Currently, there are no active wonton waste laws in Alabama. According to the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (AL DCNR), all that is currently required is that an animal is taken into possession and counted toward bag limit. Stingray species in Alabama are unregulated and there is no stated fishing or bow hunting creel limits with the exception of the Spotted Eagle Ray (Aetobatus narinari), which is a prohibited species. I wrote this white paper in an effort to bring awareness to the need for a wonton waste policy that incorporates the stingray.
